Join us during March Break at the Copper Kettle Cafe in beautiful downtown Waterdown, ON. Christine Frances Poe will be reading "TIKKO TRAVELS Dorian's Story", an inspirational, true tale of a little polar bear travelling for autism awareness; and the 9 year old boy on the spectrum (from Burlington, ON) who dreamt of making the world a better place for families living with autism. It’s a journey of HOPE, COMPASSION & COURAGE. This is “Dorian’s Story.”
While your family curls up to share Tikko's heart-warming adventure, courtesy of host Scott Drummond, enjoy Copper Kettle's signature apple fritters!
Copper Kettle's signature Apple Fritters start at the orchard. Their apples come exclusively from Belvedere Orchards/Drummond Farms which is located on 5th Concession west of Center Road in Waterdown. The main Apple Variety that are used in their delicious Treat is “Mutzu” more commonly known as Crispin in the Grocery Store. However, from time to time when the Harvest permits they will use ”Courtland Apples”. They chose these varieties for their heartiness. If you are looking for a quality apple in any size or variety please go see their friends up at Belvedere Orchards.
Their Signature Apple Fritter Batter was created by Owner & Culinary Master Beth Drummond. This is a proprietary recipe, but they can tell you that it is made with eggs, flour, milk, baking powder and the rest is a big secret!! If you are concerned with allergies by all means let them know.
Finally, an amazing apple fritter must be cooked to perfection. They use a shallow Deep Fryer set to 350° F. They usually cook for about 2 minutes per side or until golden Brown. Stop by the restaurant and watch yours being cooked through their “Fritter Observatory Window” The kids love it!
AND, the kids will love "TIKKO TRAVELS; Dorian's Story"! Proceeds help fund Tikko's travels (Tikko's travelled to over 54 countries since 2013); with $3.00 from every book sale will be going to Woodview Mental Health and Autism Services at 69 Flatt Rd., Waterdown, ON. Woodview offers a broad spectrum of services for children and youth facing mental health challenges and for those diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). They work in partnership with families, who play an integral role in their services. They work with schools and social service agencies to support these individuals and their families.
